Facebook isn’t one to miss out on technology advancements. With the popularity of personal assistants like Siri, and Cortana, Facebook is jumping on board with a service simply called, “M.” It will reside within the messaging application to answer user’s questions and offer ideas for gifts, places to eat, and more. How does Facebook find a way to make their service stand out as a cut above the rest?
Facebook says M will be so much more and is going to take the next step by actually completing tasks for users. Meaning it can make purchases, deliver gifts, create reservations, arrange travel plans, and book appointments all on your behalf.
While the details of how M will work are still being released, it has been noted that payment options are already a part of the Messenger platform and recently businesses have been able to directly chat with customers. Those functions are likely to become an integral part of making M work. It is in the test market currently, but will be rolled out to all Messenger users in the future.
